Arts Focus Participation
Arts Focus is more than just another program at Stevenson PACT School. It embodies the PACT core value of hands-on learning and its philosophy of parents, teachers, and children working together to enhance the educational experience. It displays “PACT in fact”. Parents are involved in eve!y aspect of the PACT experience, but their role in Arts Focus is central. Unlike most other parts of the academic program, Arts Focus is organized and taught by parents.
As part of the PACT community everyone has a role to play in Arts Focus:
For Students there is participating in the class, working with the mediums, supporting each others learning, expressing and listening to others express themselves through art.
For Parents there is celebrating and encouraging your child’s and other children’s creativity, expression and learning through process. In some cases, providing supplies — especially the “recycled” materials needed for various classes. As well as taking the time to attend various events celebrating Arts Focus as a community (Performing Arts productions, Art Show in Spring)
For Teachers - there is modeling collaboration, building relationships across grades and classes, supporting leaders and volunteers through setting the tone and environment that allows the Arts Focus session to function smoothly.
For Classroom volunteers, those who host parents, representing the classroom where the Arts Focus class is being held. - you are a vital part of our program and without you Arts Focus would not run efficiently (if at all).
For Arts Focus committee members — the hearts, hands and feet of the Arts Focus program. One-on-one work with children, supporting the team, and celebrating the steps along the way as children learn techniques and express creatively.
For Arts Focus Team leaders — adding soul to the curriculum and working with the AF Exec, teachers, your team and the kids. Sharing your passion and keeping the flow of learning going from week to week during session, as well as all the work outside of the regular session.
For Arts Focus Executive — Chairs and various coordinators who are the bones, working together to provide the framework that supports the program and the many people involved with it.
For PACT Foundation and Advisory making it possible for Arts Focus program to even exist and supporting its growth through curriculum development.
For Stevenson PACT School Staff who continue celebrating with parents and children and problem solving with executive to make Arts Focus the educational experience it has been each year.
Thanks, Arts Focus Committee Chairs 2011-12
