Angela Lyon is the principal of Mountain View Whisman School District’s Stevenson School, home of the PACT program. Angela is uniquely qualified to be the principal of the PACT program. She has a Masters degree from the University of Minnesota in Parent, Family, and Community Education. In addition, she was one of the founding teachers of Monta Loma's Community Enhanced Learning Program (CEL), where she was responsible for coordinating the parent education program. Angela has served as an Instructional Facilitator at Monta Loma, where she provided professional development and coached teachers on curriculum and instruction. Prior to being an Instructional Facilitator, Angela served as teacher at Monta Loma for 14 years, teaching Kindergarten and First Grade, as well as teaching and coordinating the Response to Intervention Program.
Well-versed in parent participation programs, Angela previously coordinated and taught parent and child family education classes for parents of children from birth through age 12 in Minnesota. In MVWSD, her experience in parent education and participation includes working with District administration and the First Five organization to create and teach the pre-K and incoming Kindergarten parent workshops for the entire District. This program has grown into a district-wide comprehensive parent education program, including summer school classes for parents and students preparing for kindergarten.
A graduate of the 2008 MVWSD Leadership Academy, Angela has successfully completed several teacher leadership opportunities in preparation for site administrative leadership. Other than teaching, Angela's interests include gardening, biking, reading, and spending time with her family. This is her second year as the principal of Stevenson Elementary.
